There are several classes to choose from. You can jump in no matter what your sewing level is. Classes are tailor made to your skill level and class size is kept smaller for more personal attention. Private and semi-private sewing lessons are also available. Classes are for ages 10 and up.
An introductory class to find out if you like sewing. All materials are provided for you.
A beginning sewing class where you will complete a quick project each week and take home full color instructions to make many more.
Once you have learned the basics of sewing you are ready to tackle garment sewing and fitting.
Hands on workshops are available for your group or sewing guild. I enjoy traveling to various ASG chapters and teaching for them. Here are some topics that we can discuss. All day, half day or 2 hour options are possible with most of the workshops. Fees vary depending on the topic and the time. Please contact me to discuss your needs.
Industry Sewing Techniques ~ Shortcuts to make sewing better and faster.
Knit Pants (Yoga pants) ~ Attendees are guided step by step through the fitting process and sewing process of making knit pants that fit. Various style changes will also be demonstrated.
Jalie Scarf Top ~ Are you nervous about working with knit fabrics? Attendees will make this great top and learn great techniques for making it go together quickly. We'll start by trying on all sizes made up in the pattern. This will easily identify their size and also any adjustments that need to be made. Adjustments for every issue will be demonstrated. Then attendees will cut out their patterns and sew up a great top to wear home.
Dart Manipulation/Design ~ Once you know your way around a sewing pattern you can begin to learn how to design your own unique garments. This is a beginning design workshop.
Quick Projects ~ I have a whole notebook full of small quick projects that are great for gifts or personal use. All attendees will go home with finished project(s) and full color, step-by-step instructions and ideas to make many more.
Style Choices ~ Fashions that Flatter ~ This is a lecture and demo of how to choose the right styles that will flatter your unique figure. Learn to accentuate the positive. Attendees will determine their own body shape and be able to define styles that will work with their body shape.
Sew the Perfect T Shirt ~ In this workshop, attendees will try on all sizes of sample T Shirts made up from the pattern. Basic alterations will be discussed and changes will be made to the pattern. Then a great fitting T Shirt will be sewn up and worn home. Neck binding tips will be discussed and other tips and tricks for sewing with knits.
Sewing for Children ~ Whether you're sewing for your children, grandchildren, charity or for profit, you'll learn some great tips for sewing children's garments. Special techniques like gathering, ruching, simple smocking, scallops, applique and embroidery will be demonstrated.
Color Blocking ~ This is a lecture/demo about tips and techniques for successful color blocking. A power point presentation will be given and then attendees can practice using colored pencils with illustrations and line drawings.
